Define the deliverable
A useful enquiry identifies the model or drawing revision, quantities by model and colour, logo requirements, packing format and delivery point. Separate adaptation of an existing item from a new development project, where design and tooling responsibilities also need definition.
For example, an enquiry to Zhongding for “10,000 travel bottles” does not identify capacity, colour allocation or set composition. Suppliers answering different assumptions will produce numbers that are difficult to compare. A short, shared specification makes the conversation more productive.
Distinguish initial work from repeat-order work
Where tooling, samples, print preparation or packaging development are involved, identify what is included, what is separate and how a repeat order would be treated. No universal quotation format is required; the objective is consistent scope.
Also identify unresolved items. Packaging cost may remain provisional until dimensions and construction are agreed. Make that provisional status visible before ordering.
Give the schedule a start and an end
“30 days” is not a useful comparison without definitions. That number is illustrative, not a Zhongding commitment. Does the clock start when specifications are complete or when samples are approved? Does it end at production completion, packed goods or an agreed delivery point?
Use observable milestones: final specification, relevant approvals, production and inspection, packing, then handover. Agree the timing for the actual project. If the buyer has a shelf-launch date, allow separately for transport, receiving and the retailer’s own arrangements rather than treating all of them as factory production time.
Procurement scenario: a lower unit price with extra work
Suppose one offer includes retail packaging and another covers loose products only. The second unit price is lower, but the brand must arrange a packaging supplier, product transfer and pack-out. Put that work and its timing into the comparison.
An integrated offer is not automatically preferable. A brand with an established packaging partner may favour separate purchasing. Compare complete delivery arrangements rather than expecting one unit price to answer every question. This is an illustrative procurement scenario.
Prepare an actionable enquiry for Zhongding
Provide the product or design reference, quantity, colour mix, logo and packaging requirements. Discuss which existing model or development route is suitable, with quotation and scheduling confirmed for the project.
The comparison should answer three questions: what is included, which decisions remain open, and what can be delivered at each milestone? Those answers make price and timing meaningful.
