The shortest component limits complete sets

Consider a four-bottle travel set containing one bottle in each of four specified colours. Producing 1,000 sets requires 1,000 bottles of each colour, not simply 4,000 bottles in total.

If the available quantities are 1,100 red, 1,000 blue, 1,000 green and 900 grey, the total is still 4,000. Yet only 900 sets can be packed as specified. That leaves 200 red, 100 blue and 100 green bottles. This is arithmetic for an illustrative scenario, not Zhongding order data.

Decide whether the assortment is fixed or variable

A fixed assortment needs checks by model and colour. A variable assortment still needs rules: are repeated colours allowed, is a minimum variety required, and how will the listing describe what the customer receives?

“Random colours” should not be introduced after a shortage appears. A fixed-colour product photograph and an unapproved substituted set communicate different offers. Purchasing, packing and sales information should use the same assortment record.

Separate completed units from units available for packing

For each required component, record what has been checked, what remains under review and what is ready for packing. A manufactured item awaiting approval should not automatically count towards a complete set.

This does not justify ordering arbitrary extra stock. Any additional quantity and allocation should be agreed for the project. A universal, unsupported wastage percentage is not a sound substitute for a plan.

Procurement scenario: one colour is short

Suppose a delivery requires 1,000 sets but only 900 units of one colour are available for packing. Define the gap as 100 units of that particular colour. Then compare replenishing it, delivering 900 complete sets first, or seeking the brand’s approval for a changed assortment.

Each option has consequences for set counts, remaining inventory and channel information. Packing staff should not choose a replacement colour without approval. This scenario describes a decision process, not a promised replenishment speed.

Give Zhongding an assortment specification

For Zhongding travel bottles in different shapes and capacities, or customised silicone brush products, provide the intended model, colour and quantity per set alongside the packaging presentation. A simple assortment sheet connects product selection with packing requirements.

The useful delivery quantity is the number of complete sets that can be supplied as agreed. Tracking that figure alongside unit totals makes shortages visible earlier.
